How the Auto-Apply Job Search Engine Works

An operational overview of the job matching algorithm, scoring thresholds, application queues, and tracking recruiter views.

The AI Job Agent automates the search and application funnel. This guide explains how the search engine functions behind the scenes and how to manage the application queue.

1. Active Resume Selection

The auto-apply system submits only one active resume.

  1. Go to the Resumes tab.
  2. Review your uploaded documents.
  3. Locate the resume version you want to submit.
  4. Click Mark Active.
  5. The system will now use this resume for all matching evaluations and automated applications.

You can also delete a resume you no longer need, or re-run analysis on one if you've updated it since the last scan — both are available from the same Resumes list, per resume.

[!NOTE] Plan Differences:

  • Free Plan: You can upload up to 10 resumes (the cap applies per profile, on every plan) and select which one is active. The system discovers up to 10 jobs per day and auto-applies to up to 5 per day on your behalf.
  • Premium Plan: Same 10-resume cap, but the system discovers up to 50 jobs per day and processes unlimited auto-applications on autopilot.

2. Job Matching & Score Thresholds

The search crawler fetches listings from major job boards on a schedule (every 24 hours on Free, every 6 hours on Premium). It benchmarks each listing against your profile details and calculates scores:

  • Skill Score: Matching keywords in your resume against required stack keywords.
  • Salary Score: Checks if the listed package matches your minimum salary expectation.
  • Location Score: Checks if the role fits your remote/hybrid preference and geographic boundaries.
  • Experience Score: Verifies that your experience level matches the seniority level requested.

If the combined Match Score is 60% or higher, the job is marked as Qualified and placed in your dashboard matches list.

3. Managing the Queue & Auto-Applies

Under the Applications dashboard, you will see the active queue:

  1. Matches Folder: Shows all qualified jobs. You can review them, click Dismiss if not interested, or click Apply to queue them.
  2. Application Queue (QUEUED): Once queued, the auto-apply engine picks up the job.
  3. Application Submission (IN_PROGRESS): The system visits the board, fills out form fields using your profile details, attaches your active resume, and submits the application.
  4. Applied Folder (APPLIED): Once submitted, the status updates to APPLIED. Any error during submission shifts the status to FAILED with a log note so you can review.
